विश्व स्तनपान सप्ताह 1अगस्त 2017 से 7अगस्त 2017 तक “सस्टेनिंग ब्रैस्ट फीडिंग टूगेदर ” विषय के साथ मनाया जा रहा है।
• यह पहली बार 1992 में ,यूनिसेफ़ और विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (डब्ल्यूएचओ) के द्वारा विश्व स्तनपान सप्ताह एक्शन (डब्ल्यूएबीए) के रूप में 120 से अधिक देशों में व्यक्तियों, संगठनों, और सरकारों के साथ मिलकर मनाया गया था ।
• 2017 में विश्व स्तनपान सप्ताह का 25 वाँ वर्ष पूरा हुआ है ।
2. चीन ने अपना पहला विदेशी सैन्य बेस डीजिबूती में स्थापित किया
चीन ने औपचारिक रूप से एक झंडारोहण समारोह और सैन्य परेड के साथ डीजिबूती में अपना पहला विदेशी सैन्य बेस स्थापित किया है।
• 1 अगस्त को चीनी सेना,पीपुल्स लिबरेशन आर्मी की स्थापना की 90 वीं वर्षगांठ के जश्न के साथ इस घटना का समापन हुआ।
• डीजिबूती हिंद महासागर के उत्तर-पश्चिमी किनारे पर स्थित है ।
• डीजिबूती इथियोपिया, इरिट्रिया और सोमालिया के बीच एक छोटा बंजर राष्ट्र है,यह स्वेज नहर से लाल सागर के मार्ग में दक्षिणी प्रवेश द्वार पर स्थित है।
3. एनसीबीसी के लिए 123 वां संविधान संशोधन विधेयक 2017 पारित
31 जुलाई, 2017 को, एक महत्वपूर्ण अनुभाग को ना शामिल करते हुए राज्य सभा द्वारा पिछड़े वर्गो के लिए एक राष्ट्रीय आयोग स्थापित करने हेतु 123 वाँ संविधान संशोधन विधेयक, 2017 पारित किया गया।
• राज्य सभा ने धारा 3,जिसमे पिछड़े वर्गो के लिए राष्ट्रीय आयोग के संविधान और शक्तियों के बारे में एक नया अनुच्छेद 338 बी के सम्मिलन का उल्लेख है, को शामिल ना करते हुए विधेयक पारित किया है।
• सदस्यों की संख्या तीन से पांच तक बढ़ाने जिसमे अल्पसंख्यक समुदाय का एक सदस्य और दूसरा महिला सदस्य शामिल करने के लिये एक संशोधन प्रस्तावित किया गया है।
4. एटीएम सेवाओं के लिए एचपीसीएल के साथ एयरटेल पेमेंट बैंक का समझौता
एयरटेल पेमेंट्स बैंक ने हिंदुस्तान पेट्रोलियम कॉरपोरेशन लिमिटेड (एचपीसीएल) के साथ साझेदारी की है, जिससे देश में डिजिटल भुगतान को बढ़ावा दिया जा सके।
सभी 14,000 एचपीसीएल ईंधन स्टेशन एयरटेल पेमेंट्स बैंक के लिए बैंकिंग पॉइंट के रूप में कार्य करेंगे।
• सभी एयरटेल पेमेंट बैंक के ग्राहक 14,000 ईंधन स्टेशनों पर सुविधाजनक बैंकिंग सेवाओ जैसे कि नए खाते खोलने, नकद जमा और निकासी सुविधा, और धन हस्तांतरण का लाभ उठा सकेंगे ।
• एयरटेल पेमेंट बैंक के ग्राहक अपने मोबाइल फोन का उपयोग करके 14,000 एचपीसीएल ईंधन स्टेशनों पर ईंधन की खरीद के लिए सुरक्षित और सुविधाजनक डिजिटल भुगतान करने में सक्षम होंगे।
5. मुकेश अंबानी एशिया के दूसरे सबसे अमीर व्यक्ति
ब्लूमबर्ग अरबपतियों की सूची के मुताबिक, रिलायंस इंडस्ट्रीज के चेयरमैन मुकेश अंबानी हांगकांग के बिजनेस मैंन ली का शिंग से आगे निकल कर एशिया के दूसरे सबसे अमीर आदमी बन गए है।
• अंबानी के सम्पति में 12.1 अरब डॉलर का इजाफा हुआ है, जिसमे तेल कंपनियों के साथ-साथ दूरसंचार कंपनियों के शेयरों में भी वृद्धि देखी गई है।
6. समीर गार्डे को भारत, सार्क क्षेत्र के लिए सिस्को अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया गया
नेटवर्किंग की विशाल संस्था सिस्को ने भारत और सार्क क्षेत्र के संचालन के लिए समीर गार्डे को अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया है।
• पूर्व फिलिप्स हेल्थकेयर एग्जिक्यूटिव, गार्डे 1 अगस्त को कंपनी में शामिल हुए।उन्होंने दिनेश मल्कानी का स्थान लिया है ।
7. पूर्वी कमान के नए प्रमुख लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल अभय कृष्ण
लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल अभय कृष्णा को सेना की पूर्वी कमान के प्रमुख के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है। पूर्वी कमान सिक्किम क्षेत्र सहित चीन-भारत सीमा के एक प्रमुख हिस्से की रक्षा करता है जहां भारत और चीन की सेनाएं आमने सामने हैं।
• लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल कृष्णा, जो सेना के दक्षिण पश्चिमी कमान का नेतृत्व कर रहे थे,ने लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल प्रवीण बक्षी की जगह ली है।
8. आईसीसी टेस्ट रैंकिंग में जडेजा ने शीर्ष स्थान प्राप्त किया
आईसीसी की ताजा टेस्ट रैंकिंग के अनुसार, रवींद्र जडेजा गेंदबाजों की सूची में शीर्ष स्थान पर रहे जबकि भारतीय कप्तान विराट कोहली ने बल्लेबाजी सूची में पांचवा स्थान प्राप्त किया ।
• बल्लेबाजी सूची में ऑस्ट्रेलिया के कप्तान स्टीव स्मिथ सबसे ऊपर हैं, इंग्लैंड के जो रूट और न्यूजीलैंड के केन विलियमसन ने क्रमशः दूसरा एवं तीसरा स्थान प्राप्त किया।
• गेंदबाजों की सूची में, रविचंद्रन अश्विन ने श्रीलंका के कप्तान रंगाना हेराथ को स्थानांतरित कर के दूसरा स्थान प्राप्त किया। हेराथ रैंकिंग में तीसरे स्थान पर है।

9. ग्रीष्मकालीन ओलंपिक के आयोजक:-पेरिस एवं लॉस एन्जिल्स
ओलंपिक आयोजकों के साथ एक समझौते के बाद पेरिस को 2024 ग्रीष्मकालीन ओलंपिक खेलों की तथा लॉस एंजिल्स को 2028 ग्रीष्मकालीन ओलंपिक की मेजबानी सौंपी गई है।

1. World breastfeeding week – August 1-7, 2017
World breastfeeding week 2017 is being celebrated from 1st to 7th August 2017 with the theme “Sustaining Breastfeeding Together”.
• It was first celebrated in 1992 by World Alliance for Breastfeeding World Breastfeeding Week Action (WABA) and is now observed in over 120 countries by United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), World Health Organization (WHO) and their partners including individuals, organizations, and governments.

2. China opens its first overseas Military base in Djibouti
China has formally opened its first overseas military base in Djibouti with a flag raising ceremony and military parade.
• The event was timed to coincide with the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the establishment of China’s military, the People’s Liberation Army, on August 1.
• Djibouti’s position on the northwestern edge of the Indian Ocean .
• Djibouti is a tiny barren nation sandwiched between Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia. It is at the southern entrance to the Red Sea on the route to the Suez Canal.
3. Constitution 123rd Amendment Bill 2017 for NCBC
On July 31, 2017, Constitution 123rd Amendment Bill, 2017 for setting up of a National Commission for Backward Classes was passed by Rajya Sabha after dropping an important clause.
• Rajya Sabha passed the bill by dropping Clause 3 which pertains to the insertion of a new article 338B about the constitution and powers of the National Commission for Backward Classes.
• One amendment sought increase in the number of members of the proposed commission from three to five with reservation for a member from a minority community and another for women.
4. Airtel Payment Bank ties up with HPCL for ATM services
Airtel Payments Bank has partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), to give further boost to digital payments in the country.
• All 14,000 HPCL fuel stations will act as banking points for Airtel Payments Bank.
• All Airtel Payments Bank customers would be able to access a range of convenient banking services at these 14,000 fuel stations like opening new accounts, make cash deposits and withdrawals facility, and transfer money.
• Airtel Payments Bank customers will also be able to make secure and convenient digital payments for fuel purchases across 14,000 HPCL fuel stations by using their mobile phones.
5. Mukesh Ambani becomes Asia’s 2nd richest person
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has overtaken Hong Kong business magnate Li Ka-shing to become Asia’s second-richest man.
• Ambani’s wealth has seen a rise of $12.1 billion with the oil-to telecom conglomerate’s shares seeing a surge with investors.
6. Sameer Garde named Cisco president for India, SAARC region
Networking giant Cisco has appointed Sameer Garde as President for its India and SAARC operations.
• A former Philips Healthcare executive, Garde joined the company on August 1. He replaced Dinesh Malkani.
7. Lt Gen Abhay Krishna new chief of Eastern Command
Lt. Gen. Abhay Krishna has been appointed as head of the Army’s crucial Eastern Command which guards a major part of Sino-India border including the Sikkim sector where armies of India and China have been locked in a face-off.
• Lt. Gen. Krishna, who was heading the Army’s South Western Command succeeds Lt. Gen. Praveen Bakshi .
8. Jadeja maintains top position ICC Test Rankings
According to the latest ICC Test Rankings Ravindra Jadeja maintained his top position in the bowlers’ list while Indian skipper Virat Kohli remained stayed at fifth place in the batting charts.
• The batting list is being topped by Australia captain Steve Smith followed by England’s Joe Root and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson.
• In the bowlers’ chart, Ravichandran Ashwin replaced Sri Lanka captain Rangana Herath to claim the second spot back. Herath is third in the rankings.
• In the all-rounders’ list Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan is still maintained at the top, Jadeja and Ashwin also maintained second and third ranks respectively.
9. Summer Olympics Host : Paris , Los Angels
Paris will host the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. Los Angeles will host the 2028 Summer Olympics after reaching a deal with Olympic organisers.

10. Eminent Dhrupad singer Ustad Dagar passes away
Ustad Hussain Sayeeduddin Dagar, maestro and custodian of the venerable Dhrupad tradition of Hindustani classical music and a member of the eminent Dagar family, passed away.
• Dhrupad – a Sanskrit portmanteau of Dhruva (immovable) and Pad (verse) has its roots since ancient times, mentioned as early as the 3rd Century B.C. in the Natyashastra.
